FGR 1

High Performance Dyneema!

Supplied exclusively to The Rig Shop, FGR 1 represents the state of the art technology in rope construction for performance yachts.

Dyneema®, Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMwPE), is available in a number of different grades and offers the best strength to weight ratio for modern fibre ropes; the super-strong yarns are used for performance cores.

SK78 is the material used in our FGR1 cores, which are pre-stretched and heat-set as standard to minimise elongation and creep. Core slippage is virtually eliminated with a P.U. coating for additional friction.

SK99 is the very latest Dyneema® fibre and offers exceptional strength (20% higher than SK78).

These fibres, due to their high strength, are ideal for all running rigging applications such as halyards, sheets and runner tails with high load applications.

FGR 1 has a high tenacity braided polyester outer cover, which resists abrasion, but still has soft handling qualities, making it ideal for use on winches, around blocks and in stoppers.

Performance covers that are thermal and abrasion resistance such as Technora can be specifically tailored for required applications on request.

FGR 1 is only available from The Rig Shop, along with other specialised ropes for performance racing and cruising

A comprehensive range of exclusive colours is available for this performance rope Performance Covers that are weight, abrasion or thermal resistance such as Technora, Zylon (PBO) Dyneema, can be specifically tailored for required applications are also available on request.

FNR 1

FNR Dyneema

Manufactured to the same high standard as FGR 1 and available in four new exciting colours with glow in the dark markers. Super-strong yarns are used for the core in a triple braid configuration. This gives very high strength ideal for halyards, sheets and runner tails. Stretch and creep is minimised by pre-stretching and heat-setting the FNR 1 Dyneema, making it particularly suitable for halyards with high load applications. On Spirit Improved load extension figures also ensure that rig settings can be accurately reproduced, especially important for sail setting. Core slippage is virtually eliminated with the addition of a lightweight polypropylene inner braid, P.U. coated for additional friction.

FNR 1 has a high tenacity 16 plait braided polyester outer cover, which resists abrasion, but still has soft handling qualities, making it ideal for use on winches, around blocks and in rope clutches. FNR 1 is only available from The Rig Shop, along with other specialised ropes for performance racing and cruising.

FNR Dockline

FNR Dockline is 15% stronger than 3 strand mooring lines and has the added advantage that you can see it at night, no more tripping up in the dark! FNR dockline has a shock absorbing braided nylon core with an abrasion resisting polyester cover containing glow in the dark markers.

LSP

The High performance Cruising Rope!

High performance Cruising Rope

Supplied exclusively to The Rig Shop, LSP is an advanced long life rope manufactured specifically for cruising and distance racing applications. Using the highest quality polyester with a parallel inner core, LSP has a high strength component to suit most cruising or racing applications. Strength is increased by the heavy duty high tenacity braided polyester cover. Better abrasion resistance than any other comparable specification is achieved by LSP and will offer a long working life in normal sailing applications. Core slippage is virtually eliminated with the addition of an inner covering which locks the centre core to the outer braid. LSP is only available from The Rig Shop, along with other specialised ropes for performance racing and cruising. This specialist long life cruising rope is available in six colours, each with a heavy colour coded fleck.

Multiplait Nylon

Ideal for High Shock Loads!

Produced from Nylon, Multiplait has the benefit of high stretch and recovery properties, making it ideal to absorb high shock loads, such as towing and mooring lines.

When at sea, it can be used in place of low stretch sheets where it can absorb sudden sheet loads in high seas. It is a very flexible rope, easily stowed in anchor lockers.

Vectran

The High Performance Racing Rope!

The Rig Shop introduced VECTRAN, an advanced long life rope made specifically for high performance yacht racing applications. Vectran ropes have a similar load/extension performance to those made with Aramid, but display even lower stretch. Vectran ropes will have a similar weight to Aramid, enabling it to be used in critical point loading applications without installing oversized sheaves. The abrasion resistance is 10-12 times better than that of Aramid, reducing internal rope damage. A unique property of Vectran it its resistance to creep. It doesn't! At loads up to 50% of break (far in excess of normal working loads), Vectran displays no creep, even at high temperatures. This is a feature that no rope making material can match including steel.
